Kentmere 200 - B&W 35mm Film

I was excited to use this film, having had a go with a bunch of black and white films from the Ilford stable (including Kentmere 400), trying out this new 200 on a sunny day felt like a fun game. The Kentmere has not disappointed here at all. As described, it's got a bit more contrast than the 400, which really works for me. I found the 400 had a tendency to sit a bit too much in the middle and so shots just looked very grey. The extra contrast in the 200 really gives it a little more dynamism, so shots really pop.

It also seems to be extremely forgiving, with the latitude across the shot being surprisingly kind. Even with a badly overexposed sky in the background, it manages to just style it out. Small underexposures and shadows still hold detail too. whilst grain and sharpness are also great.

For the price, I don't know how you could better this.

I can’t wait to try this film. It arrived very promptly so I have no excuses but to load it and get outside!
