As a first-time user of Kodak Portra 400 35mm film I was rather apprehensive about how my landscape photographs would turn out. I needn't have worried as the film is easy to use and its fast speed enables high shutter speeds and great clarity. The colour rendition is very natural, with a fine grain. This is now my film of choice. Shooting in sunny conditions with a Canon F-1 SLR all exposures were at 1/500s and either f11 or f16, as recommended on the Kodak website.
Yes, it may seem expensive compared to all sorts of other 400 colour rolls, but the difference is very visible. It's like shooting in hi-fi. I somewhat foolishly put it through an LCA I was testing on a day out and so my pictures didn't do it justice at all, but the quality of it shines through. Contrast is nice, colours are really nicely balanced, extremely fine grain. It's just gorgeous.
The greatest film since Kodachrome!!!
