TTArtisan released Shoe Mount Light Meter version II
Chinese based TTArtisan released an updated version of their external on camera hot shoe Light Meter. The version 2 features several upgrades not only in cosmetics but also in exposure accuracy. These little light meter became very popular with film photographers as they allow them to use their old cameras without the built in light meters.
TTArtisan took criticism of version 1 from customer to heart and promises significant improvements. A new cover lens design increases the exposure accuracy by reducing reflections, this should improve the reading accuracy by 1-2 stops.
Build from aluminium the body is now smaller and uses a smaller CR1632 battery instead of CR2032. TTArtisan rates the battery life close to 60 hours and the meter goes in to the sleep mode fairly shortly after use.
The new dimensions are 40x35x16 instead of 40x40x15. The dials are now more tactile and provide nice click effect when changing settings, this is significant improvement over ver. 1 which felt quite loose.
The overall usability is quite simple with +/- lights indicating over or under exposure by moving shutter speed and aperture dials. There is a simple way to set the ISO of your film as well.
The Light Meter is available directly from TTArtisan website as well as Amazon in Black and Silver versions.
