Fujifilm increasing their prices on photographic film by more than 20% in the UK

Fujifilm is increasing their prices on the photographic film across the board.

In the letter communicated by the Fujifilm distributors in the UK to the stockists the price increase came in to effect on the 1st of December and all the backordered stock would fall into the price hike. The stockists were offered to keep their orders at the increased price or cancel them.

At the moment we don't know if instax range is affected, but 35mm, 120 and Large format is definitely there.

The price hike ranges from 20% to 30% depending on the film stock. For example the Fujifilm 200 price has been increased by around 25%, while the Superia 400 has increased by 20% & Velvia 50 in 120 by 30%.

Since Fuji films were out of stock for quite some time in the UK except Fujifilm 200 (previously called C200) which hit the shelves recently, a lot of UK stockists had backorders since at least summer this year. Some stockists who sold "Pre-orders" may be hit hard by the announcements.

Fujifilm has been on the naughty list with photography enthusiasts this year. The film has been out of stock for some time, 400h stock was discontinued with rumours of Fujifilm completely shutting down the manufacturing of the film products.

However the recent price hike may mean the Fujifilm is planning to invest in to the production and who knows maybe we will start to see the film by Fujifilm hitting shelves again soon.

The story is still developing and will update it as soon as we have more information.
